Pair of porcelain pitchers, Tucker Factories, Philadelphia, 1827-1838, baluster form with fluted base, flaring lip and lug handle, decorated with gilding and blue enamel with bow tied foliate wreaths and paired lyres, wear consistent with age and use including one with crack and possible repair, expected loss of gilt, ect., 9 1/4" h. [LITERATURE: A pitcher with virtually identical lyre and wreath gilt decoration that is further embellished by a floral spray is illustrated in " Classicism in America, "Inspiration and Innovation 1810-1840" (Hirschl and Adler Galleries, Inc., 1991), p. 111.] [PROVENANCE: Christie's, Sale 7398, Lot 372, consigner purchased for $5,500 in 1992, copies of provenance available to successful bidder].
