John Speed (English, 1552-1629) "Britain as it was devided in the tyme of the Englishe-Saxons especially during their Heptarchy," double sheet engraved map with hand coloring, first half of 17th C., map illustrates Britain and its Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms with their respective coats of arms, margins depict various of kings in historical scenes, inscription center right reads "Performed by John Speede and are to be sold by John Sudbury and Georg Humble in Popes head alley at Londo.", framed and matted behind glass and so that manuscript verso is visible, creasing along center, minor areas of staining or discoloration including LR corner, some wave to paper throughout, not examined out of frame, ss: 15 1/4" h. x 20" w.; and an oil on leather coat of arms, mounted to board, heraldic imagery with confronted lions, suit of knight's armor, crown, etc. framed, some surface wear, ss: 15 1/2" h. x 18 1/4" w.
