Michiel Theobald Gloeckner (German-American, 1915-1989) oil on canvas, monogrammed LR, inscribed on stretcher verso "Houses & Houses, 1961" array of irregular polychrome shapes, impasto throughout, areas of minor flaking one of which along lower margin with minor flake loss, minor bulges, not examined out of frame, 48" h. x 48" w. [Gloeckner was born in Dresden, Germany but moved to NY after WWII. The artist had a home and studio in West Cornwall, CT. He studied painting under Otto Dix (German, 1891-1969) and was also influenced by Paul Klee (Swiss-German, 1879-1940). Michiel Gloeckner exhibited works in Dresden, Munich, Berlin, Geneva, Paris, Manhattan, Philadelphia, and Hartford.]
