Michiel Theobald Gloeckner (German-American, 1915-1989) "1000 and One Night - On the Road to Damaskus," watercolor on paper, 1975, title, monogram and date in lower margin, depicts grid of adjacent polychrome geometric shapes including circles and crescents, framed and matted behind glass, fading and foxing, damages to frame, not examined out of frame, ss: 13 1/4" h. x 10 1/2" w. [Gloeckner was born in Dresden, Germany but moved to NY after WWII. The artist had a home and studio in West Cornwall, CT. He studied painting under Otto Dix (German, 1891-1969) and was also influenced by Paul Klee (Swiss-German, 1879-1940). Michiel Gloeckner exhibited works in Dresden, Munich, Berlin, Geneva, Paris, Manhattan, Philadelphia, and Hartford.]
