A highly desirable English ‘Necessaire de voyage’ vanity box by Jenner & Knewstub is just one of the exceptional items from an extraordinary New England estate, and other fine homes in Connecticut and Massachusetts that will be sold by Winter Associates on December 12th at their central Connecticut gallery. Also included will be a variety of fine jewelry, coins, stamps, paintings, prints, miniature portraits, sculpture, antique and bench made furniture, Oriental rugs and books.

The vanity box is rare in its completeness, with each of the original gilt sterling fittings and toiletries present and all with London 1884 hallmarks and matching raised monogram. The case of exotic and now extinct coromandel wood unfolds with an ingenious design by George Betjemann & Sons and showcases two of their sought-after inventions including the ‘Angle Wing Mechanism’ which enables the box to cantilever out and open into six compartmented tiers, including two secret jewelry drawers with concealed spring-loaded buttons. The set is in excellent condition. For more information on Jenner & Knewstub firm a great deal of information is available at www.antiqueboxguide.org/jenner-and-knewstub/.
