1814 Sampler by Hannah Davis of the Mid-Atlantic United States, age 13, silk on linen, sampler worked in horizontal rows, including two verses and bands of stylized floral vines worked in an alternating up/down orientation, maker's marking at bottom "Hannah Davis Work In her 13th Year 1814", silk ribbon stitched around edges, rosettes stitched at corners, in old birdseye maple frame, fair to good condition with minor repair evident, silk ribbon faded and deteriorating, brown thread embroidery is deteriorated, overall the embroidery is good, mounting materials acidic, chipped frame, not examined out of frame, sight size: 19 1/2" h. x 17 3/4" w.; frame: 22 3/4" h. x 20 7/8" w.
