Federal Connecticut side chair, c. 1790, cherry, triple lobed crest rail, urn carved splat, flaring slip seat, straight molded legs joined by plain box stretchers, through tenon rail construction, replaced corner blocks and olive green upholstery, repaired where splat meets crest, expected surface wear, 38 1/4" h. x 21" w. x 16 3/4" d. [This type of chair, once attributed to Kneeland & Adams of Hartford, Connecticut, c. 1795, is now attributed to the Chapin circle of cabinet makers of Hartford, Connecticut, c. 1790.
