Asian Ramma or door frame, Japanese or Chinese, five parts, paint and gilded wood, intricately carved and pierced panels with tree branches, leaves, and lotus flowers, dark olive border with shaped scroll ends, additional detached border, red, fluted with gilded urn finials, assembled: 43" h. x 74" w.(donated in 1919) [Provenance: Chinese-style carved frieze with peonies and vine design. Gilt with lacquer-like red paint. Adapted to fit a doorway in the home of a distinguished New York art dealer and collector. The purchaser may contact the Museum for additional information.
