British School oil on canvas by unknown artist depicting woman seated at table holding boy's ripped trousers while glaring at miscreant dressed only in socks, shirt, and red vest, the boy's canine playmate, a Cairn terrier, looks on sympathetically as the boy recovers from a whipping carried out with the stick bundle in the foreground, no visible signature, "Tim Hall Restorations, Plainville, CT" label dated March 2012 adhered along lower part of frame verso, blacklighting reveals area of in-painting located above and to the left of mother's head, heavily varnished, not examined out of frame, ss: 17" h. x 13 7/8" w.
