19th C. painted seaman's or captain's chest with old but possibly not original decoration, three-masted sailing vessel in full sail hand-painted on top lid, rest of chest painted hunter green with red and yellow trim, front inscribed "P.T. Lake, RN, 1869", back inscribed "Bristol", with "RN" flanking metal swing bails on each side, bracket hinged top, likely once had left hand side til, two areas of minor loss to left side of top, splitting across front edge of top, scattered paint loss throughout, 17 1/2" h. x 41 3/4" w. x 21 1/2" d.
