Adriaen Van Der Werff (Dutch, 1659 - 1722), "Ravishment of Lucretia", oil on wood panel, depicts the nude noblewoman in distress, fighting off her attacker, Sextus Tarquinius, the son of the king of Rome, who stands above her with dagger, a servant partially depicted at left edge, no signature viewed, old wax seals or collector's stamps to panel, in molded and gilded frame with loss, not examined out of frame, wear includes loss to skin tone areas and scattered throughout, craquelure, rubbing of edges, assumed inpainting under heavy varnish, sold as is, panel size: 11" x 15 1/2". [Deaccessioned to benefit the Slater Memorial Museum's acquisition fund.]
