African Lü Me Maternite figure, Dan Tribe, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Henri Kamer provenance, c. 1940, dark patina carved wood, metal teeth, standing female sculpture of woman with child on back, slightly bent knees, single lobe coiffure, mounted on base, old catalog number on rear of base, wear consistent with age and use including loss of headdress and other adornments, wear and scratches to finish, small losses, etc., figure only: 26 1/4" h. [PROVENANCE: Gifted to consigner by Henri Kamer c. 1980 along with Kamer's 1974 "De L'Authenticite Des Sculptures Africaines" with personal inscription to consignor. Successful buyer will receive affidavit from Consignor stating Provenance.] [NOTE: Henri Kamer was President of the International Arts Experts Association.]
