After John James Audubon (1785-1851), "Frigate Pelican", engraving with hand coloring, early 19th C. on J. Whatman watermark paper, possibly an early proof, printed in plate LL: "Drawn from Nature and Coloured by J.J. Audubon F.R.S.", printed in plate LC: "Frigate Pelican./TACHYPETES AQUILUS. Viel./Male Adult", without plate numbers or Havell legend, laid down, scattered discoloration with a broken line 12" long (7" from top edge), concentration of staining UR corner, 5" tear into image/wing from left border, some chipping at corners, uneven edges, sheet size: 38" h. x 26" w.
