Alan Tompkins (American, 1907-2007), four works of art, cubist style, various media: pair of oil on board paintings depicting cubist still life compositions, both signed LR, minor losses and wear, larger measures 14 3/4" h. x 19 3/8" w.; mixed media on paper mounted to board, depicts geometric forms, horizontal blue band at top, signed LR, 10" h. x 13 1/4" w.; canvas mounted to board, black hieroglyphic-type characters on yellow ground, expected wear, 9" h. x 11 3/4" w. [Alan Tompkins was a graduate of Columbia University and Yale University. His teaching career included positions at the Herron Art School, Cooper Union, and Columbia. He then became the director of the Hartford Art School in 1957 and played a role in its merge with Hillyer College and the Hartt School of Music.]
