Alan Tompkins (American, 1907-2007) four works of art depicting figural subjects, various media: "Striped Dress," oil on paper, signed LR, depicts woman with short black hair in blue and yellow striped dress, framed and matted behind glass, expected wear, not examined out of frame, ss: 12 1/4" h. x 9 3/4" w.; "Self Portrait II," oil on canvas mounted to wooden panel, signed LR, depicts the artist facing viewer in blue jacket, facial features indistiguishable, framed, expected wear, ss: 11 1/4" h. x 7 3/8" w.; two figural studies on canvas, expected wear, both 14" h. x 11" w. [Alan Tompkins was a graduate of Columbia University and Yale University. His teaching career included positions at the Herron Art School, Cooper Union, and Columbia. He then became the director of the Hartford Art School in 1957 and played a role in its merge with Hillyer College and the Hartt School of Music.]
