American drop leaf dining table, 18th C. elements and restorations, birch and maple, original scrubbed oval top with one 19th C. replaced leaf, splaying legs on box stretcher base, hidden boxed-in double draw bar leaf supports, history of hinges, missing one corner block, feet ended out, expected wear including scattered discoloration and scratches, approximately 28 3/4" h. x 48 3/4" w. x 44" d. (with both leaves extended.) [Antiques collector, furniture restorer, and author Henry Hammond Taylor (Connecticut, 1878-1933) kept a detailed journal recording where and when he purchased early American antiques. He noted that this table came from the "Palmer family of Athens, New York."
