+Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait (American, 1819-1905), "Snowed In - After the Blizzard" or alternatively "Uncle Dan Catlin with His Dog, Scotty", 1878, depicts farmer and dog locating wayward sheep stuck in snow, signed lower left "A. F. Tait", inscribed on panel verso "A. F. Tait, 1878, No. 91", in gilt frame, toning, small amount of scattered inpainting, slight rubbing/loss to signature, later varnish, scattered residue/ yellowed varnish, splatter etc., ss: 16 1/2" h. x 13 1/2" w. [PROVENANCE: Purchased early to mid-20th C. by an Ohio family and owned through descent. Recorded as no. 78.16 in "Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, Artist in the Adirondacks" by W. H. Cadbury with a checklist by Henry Marsh.]
