Description:

ASIAN: Eight pieces of cloisonné, Satsuma type pottery, and hardstone and carved wooden figures: cloisonné: red square vase with metallic flecks, crazing inner neck; butterfly decorated teapot; Satsuma type: vase depicting figures and roosters in garden, inner neck with repairs, 5 7/8" h.; double-handled vessel on tripod base, missing cover, both signed under base, both with crazing; other: pair carved black hardstone figurines of Shou Xing (Chinese god of longevity), average size 5 5/8" h.; along with two carved wooden figurines with moveable parts, expected wear throughout. [These items were collected by William Ireland Starr (Bridgeport, CT, b. 1877). Starr was a neighbor of Samuel Clemens in Redding, CT, and the great-great uncle of the consignor.]
