Japanese painted wooden dolls or figurines in elaborate costumes, each with accessories, and displayed on two rattan-covered stages: five kneeling or seated court musicians in matching gray and purple kimono, two with wind instruments, two with drums, and one with tabletop xylophone, gold painted drum suspended over quatrefoil base with damaged left side and heavy craquelure, average height of figures: 5 5/8" h.; three female actresses in white and orange kimono, two carrying brass vessels and one pink parasol; two seated warriors armed with sword, arrows, and bow, bearded figure with badly peeling quiver; two extra accessories including miniature folding fan and tremblant headpiece; along with kneeling doll brandishing scimitar contained in hammered copper display case inset with hardstones, loosely attached blade, case measures 17 3/4" h. x 9 3/4" w. x 3 1/4" d., expected wear including light fading, some loose heads and beads, each stage measures 1 1/2" h. x 12 3/4" w. x 7 3/4" d.
