ASIAN: Porcelain covered jar from the Hatcher Cargo, Chinese, Transitional Period (1620-1683), blue and white floral, foliate, and bird decoration on a "cracked ice" ground, recovered from a shipwreck, discolored and glaze degraded to a soft matte surface from being submerged, Christie's Amsterdam label present, wear consistent with age including previously mentioned stains to glaze, spot of wear to edge of cap, interior rim with minor roughness (appears to be residue and not damages to rim), etc., 8" h. [Provenance: The Hatcher Collection. Christie`s Amsterdam 12th -13th June 1984 label to base.] [Note: The Hatcher Cargo was the first porcelain cargo from a shipwreck to come on to the market. It was sold in several auctions in Christie`s Amsterdam in 1984 and 1985.]
