ASIAN: Two by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese,1798 - 1861) both ukiyo-e woodblock diptychs, c. 1847 - 1852, the first depicts a scene from the play 'Zoha Tsukushi no iezuto', with two standing male figures with swords and a female figure kneeling by fire, with artist and publisher marks; along with kabuki scene featuring actor Ichikawa Kodanji IV in 'Hatsumoto Yui Sogano Kyodai' featuring male and female standing near decorative robe, with artist and publisher marks; both pieces contain two sheets, both hinged to mat at top and under protective clear cover, wear consistent with age and use including toning and wear/loss/ abraded edges, trimmed to little or no margin and hinged at corners to rice paper, each approximately: 14 3/4" h. x 10 1/4" w.
