ASIAN: Two woodblock prints by Totoya Hokkei (Japanese, 1780-1850) the first, "The Chomonju - Snake and Melons" depicting a snake protecting a tray of melons, poem above in calligraphic writing, ss: 7 3/4" h. x 6 3/4" w.; with some discoloration along lower border, toning; the second, delicacies of the sea including octopus and blowfish on a plate, calligraphic writing above, 8 1/2" h x 7 1/4" w., some waving of paper, discoloration along paper line, small nicks in paper; both framed and matted behind glass, not examined out of frame. (Note: Hokkei is one of Hokusai's most successful and prolific pupils in the genre of surimono and book illustration)
