Glentworth Butler (American, 1821-1916), pencil on cream-colored paper, unsigned Hudson River School type drawing depicting sailboats on tranquil waterway with landmark Bear Mountain in the distance, hand-inscribed with biographical information verso, scattered foxing, mat burn, slipping within frame, matted and framed behind glass, not examined out of frame, ss: 8 1/4" l. x 11 1/4" w. [Rev. Dr. James Glentworth Butler was an 1849 graduate of Yale Divinity School. After serving as a Presbyterian minister in Philadelphia, PA until around 1870, he returned to his native city of Brooklyn, NY. Butler published at least three theological treatises including the two-volume opus "Bible Work" published in 1892.]
