Woolley Sons & Co., Ltd., Manchester, 3rd quarter 19th C., angled broken arch pediment centering turned pagoda finial over wheel barometer dial, marked with maker's name, location and "Compensated", light wood spandrels, waist with thermometer on applied ivory background, lower case with paterae inlay in light wood and olive, on rectangular slab base, wear consistent with age and use including small abrasions and loss of finish, wear to face, unknown working condition, 17 1/4" h. x 5" w. x 3" d. [PROVENANCE: From the Connecticut home of the philanthropist Helen Gray and her late husband Harry J. Gray.]
