Carroll Thayer Berry (Maine, 1886-1978), two maritime Chiaroscuro woodcuts, including: "Lobsterman – Maine Coast", 1961, depicting harvester pulling lobster traps, pencil signed lower right, titled lower left, Dearborn 87. Ed: 100 or fewer, printed in black and blue-green ink on fiberous wove paper with margins, as issued. 273 x 330 mm. (10 ¾ x 13 in.), adhered to matting from above; "Winter Morning (Stonington, Deer Isle)", 1961, Chiarscuro woodcut and linoleum cut, view of a fishing village with boats in distance, ed: about 50, with possible later printings resulting in a possible 250 impressions in all editions (the last one printed in 1966), signed in the block lower right, printed by the artist with black ink on cream, finished wove paper, Dearborn 126, matted and saran wrapped, ss: 10 1/4" h. x 12 1/4" w.; both with wear consistent with age, including waving of paper.
