CLOCK: Aaron Willard Jr. Banjo Clock, No. 2452, c. 1822-25, Federal mahogany case, patent timepiece, painted iron dial signed "A Willard Jr, Boston, No. 2452," brass bezel, steel barbed hands, half round mahogany frames enclosing the reverse-painted tablets in white, red, gold and blue depicting leafage, throat tablet singed "Willard's Patent," eight-day time and alarm movement powered by iron weight, regulated by brass faced pendulum, one piece mahogany backboard, Condition: alarm weight, train, levers and drum not present, bell plinth original, a present eagle finial appears period, metal alarm weight baffle present, dial has crackling and some paint lost, signature and number are clear and readable, alarm winding hole has been plugged, original hands, minute hand has witness mark (See Foley FIG. 109), tablets appear original with original reverse painting, original triangular case glue blocks, side arms not present, diagonal through bolts present, original curved pendulum tie down with fastener, crutch broken but present, cast iron time weight appears original, sold as found, overall: 33" h. x 9 7/8" w. x 3 1/2" d.
