Diminutive tulip poplar lift top chest with drawer, three faux drawers over two, painted with red wash, replaced hinges, some boards, 16 1/2" h. x 15 1/2" w. x 10" d. [Provenance: Ex: George Dudley Seymour Collection. The top back of the chest with drawer has a rectangular white paper label with a red border and a hand-written inscription in black ink that states "Single Drawer, Single-Arch/Moldings. Painted. Whitewoods./ DollChest from East Hartford./ Date abt 1700." To the left of this is a faint ink stamp of "FROM/ GEORGE DUDLEY SEYMOUR/NEW HAVEN, CONN." The top left side of the back of the chest with drawer has a rectangular white paper label with canted corners and a red border; "343.21/ Seymour" is hand-written in black in on the label. The top edge of the left side of the chest with drawer has the accession number "CHS 1072" stamped into the wood. Deaccessioned from the Connecticut Historical Society.]
