Early Persian illuminated manuscript housed in elaborate inlaid wooden frame inset with miniature painted plaster palace or mosque façade in full colors and intricate relief, manuscript depicts lord and attendants meeting old woman in desert, frame inlaid with calligraphic cartouche at top and bottom, plaster mold incised "No. 6" LR corner, typewritten label indicating scene depicts Turko-Persian Sultan Ahmad Sanjar (r. 1118-1157) found verso, manuscript slipping within frame and with expected paint loss and creases, minor damage to left hand window and hairlines throughout plaster mold, expected wear to frame veneer, not examined out of frame, ss: 7 1/4" h. x 4" w.
