Emil Preuss (German, 19th C.), "Le Bouton Rose," after an original by Antoine Wiertz (Belgium, 1806 - 1865), depicts young brunette woman presenting small rose bud to viewer, secondary figure in background partially obstructed by curtains, signed in red LL "Preuss E.", incorrectly spelled plaque to frame, wear consistent with age and use, two areas of impact to canvas, lower tear: 1 1/4" x 1 1/2", upper L-shape tear: 4 3/4" x 2 1/4", loss and damages to moulded and gilded frame, frame size: 44" x 30"; sight size: 32 3/4" h. x 19" w.
