George Davidson (Polish-American, 1889-1965), oil on canvas wall mural unmounted and without stretchers, depicts seamen working in harbor performing tasks such as digging and carrying sacks, colorful sails hang behind figures, sailboats in distance, signed LR, flaking throughout especially in clothing of left and central figural groups, fraying to canvas and wear to edges, minor discoloration, some creasing and abrasion marks, previously rolled, one repair patch, approximately 59" h. x 135" w. [Successful buyer will also receive photocopy of affidavit of authenticity signed by artist''s daughter-in-law Fern Davidson.][After immigrating with his family from Poland to the United States, Davidson enrolled at the National Academy of Design in New York City and the American Academy Rome. He would soon become an art instructor at Cooper Union and the Yale School of Fine Arts. During his career he was known an an important muralist and is noted for his collaboration with mentor Eugene Francis Savage (1883-1978).]
