George Davidson (Polish-American, 1889-1965) two works including charcoal drawing on paper, depicting man working in field, houses and hilly landscape in background, signed LL, not examined out of frame, ss: 15 1/2" h. x 20" w.; oil on canvas landscape with water scene and trees, unsigned, framed, loose in frame, minor craquelure, scattered staining and rippling to canvas, not examined out of frame, ss: 21 3/4" h. x 30" w. [After immigrating with his family from Poland to the United States, Davidson enrolled at the National Academy of Design in New York City and the American Academy Rome. He would soon become an art instructor at Cooper Union and the Yale School of Fine Arts. During his career he was known an an important muralist and is noted for his collaboration with mentor Eugene Francis Savage (1883-1978).]
