Gilt bronze figure of Sakya Pandita (1182-1251), the honoific title of the most outstanding scholar of Tibetan Sakya school, who achieved considerable political influence in his dealings with the Mongols; shown seated in dhayansana with his righ hand raised in a teaching mudra and his left resting in his lap, Lotus and vajras decorate the trapezoidal base and the four character mark of the Qianlong emperor (October 8, 1735-February 1796) embossed on his lower back, the base sealed and consecration intact, possibly Republican Era.
