Description:

Grey taffeta dress, mid-19th C., museum provenance, two pieces, bodice and skirt, trimmed with green ribbon and fringe, details include: bodice with high neckline, peplum with long tail and bow in back, long sleeves cut into two points, button down front, belt is attached and buckles with hook and eye, label in sleeve reads "Bonded #164"; skirt with three bands of green and fringe near bottom, 14" from armpit to armpit, 22" diam. waist, both pieces with wear consistent with age and use, sold as found. [PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned to benefit the Slater Memorial Museum's acquisition fund.]
