Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran (French, 1802-1897), pair diminutive oil on panels: first depicting buildings with smoking chimneys and figures in winter landscape, signed LL; second depicting figures in spring landscape facing each other across river, signed LR, both with chalk inscriptions and brief French language artist biography verso, isolated paint flaking, neither examined out of newer black and gilt frames, both measuring ss: 7 1/2" h. x 5 1/2" w. [Lecoq exhibited works at the Paris Salon between 1824 and 1838. He also taught painting to later significant 19th C. French painters Fantin-Latour and Legros, advocating the study of nature and reliance on memory in reproducing classic works.]
