House of Worth black velvet brocade evening dress, c. 1890's, museum provenance, details include: black brocade velvet bodice and skirt in the style of late 19th C. France, Worth label at waist, split to show a triangular piece in front, functioning as if it were an underskirt, "underskirt" and front of bodice beaded with gems, white lace collar over cream satin insert on bodice and floaty lace sleeves sewn with sequins, scarves of black lace fall from shoulders (used to have tassels but are not present), museum label sewn to lining, wear consistent with age and use including shattering of some silk parts, toning and damage to lace, discoloration, detached velvet bow from one shoulder, etc., sold as is, made for a larger woman, 22" from armpit to armpit, 60" from shoulder to front of hem.
