Irwin D. Hoffman (1901-1989) lithograph "Mexican Wash Day", pencil signed LR and titled LL, framed, ss: 11 1/2" h. x 14 1/8" w. [Born in Boston to Russian immigrants, Hoffman studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School with Phillip Hale. In 1924 he received the Paige Traveling Scholarship in 1924, allowing him to study in Europe. Upon his return he set up his studio in New York, but often traveled with his brothers, who owned a mining company, to the southwest, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Celebrated early on for his portraits, he later became more known for his gritty genre scenes.]
