Description:

John Hampton (Connecticut, 20th C.), ceramic sculpture, 1994, fantasy sea creature, open mouth with curled teeth, back with curled spikes that mimic teeth, coil-built tail flips up above body, heavily textured throughout using both additive and subtractive techniques, possibly raku fired, signed and dated (19)94 under fin, 27" long. [John Hampton was a member at Wesleyan Potters for a number of years and taught art at a Hartford technical school. He is now retired and creates BBQ smokers in the form of dragons in Florida with his son.]
