Kathe Kollwitz (German, 1867-1945), "Verbruderung ([Brotherhood)", 1924, lithograph, Klipstein 199, Knesebeck 204, edition of 400, Expressionist composition of two men embracing, signed lower right lower right in pencil, attached information label verso reads in part "This print was used as frontispiece for the de-luxe edition of Henri Barbusse, Der singende Soldat, Leipzig 1924. The German de-luxe edition consists of 200 copies printed on genuine 'Buetten'", framed and matted behind conservation glass, wear consistent with age and use including even toning and waving of paper, etc., 9 1/4" x 6 3/4". [VERBAL PROVENANCE: From the Estate of a Connecticut Physician. Consigner purchased the piece from John Wyss, proprietor of Raymond & Raymond of Hartford c. 1965.]
