Kirk & Son sterling silver repousse punch bowl with matching underplate, custom made presentation
for the Cottman family of Baltimore, MD and depicting members of the Cottman family engaged in various daily activities; the foot of the bowl depicts the Marine Observatory in Baltimore Harbor (built 1797-1885, rebuilt 1887, collapsed 1902); the underplate with grapes, leaves and flowers, engraved "To my dear cousin J. Hough Cottman as a memorial of my affection for him William A. Fisher 1901", the under rim of the foot of the punch bowl is likewise engraved; bowl measures 7 1/5" h. X 10" d., base rim 7 1/2" d.; plate measures 12" diameter. (84 oz. tw.) [Provenance: presented by William Fisher to J.
