Ladies velvet and satin evening coat, 19th C., museum provenance, black cut velvet with white satin background, lined in satin with large inner pocket containing two handkerchiefs, inner waist tie, large bell-shaped sleeves, lace with large pattern decorates down the front opening and around cuffs with gold passementerie, black velvet neck sash hangs down the front with old bead tassels at ends (one detached/ included), closes with two large black hooks and eyes, 54" l. from front collar to hem, wear consistent with age and use, sold as found. [PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned to benefit the Slater Memorial Museum's acquisition fund.]
