Liverpool creamware jug, English, early 19th C., American view with colored transfer decoration on each side and front, one side with an officer, cannon, and American flag with ships unloading cargo in background, inscribed "Success to America whose Militia is better than Standing Armies/May its Citizens Emulate Soldiers And its Soldiers Hero's/While Justice is the Throne to which we are bound to bend/Our Countries Rights and Laws we ever will defend"; the other side with double portrait medallions initialed "S.A. & J.H." over a design with a beehive and cornucopia, memorial to Washington in the back ground, inscribed "The Memory of Washington and the Proscribed Patriots of America/Liberty, Virtue, Peace, Justice, and Equality to all Mankind" and "Columbia Sons inspir'd by Freedoms Flame/Live in the Annals of immortal Fame"; front with spread-winged U.S. shield-breasted eagle, with ribbon in beak with E. Pluribus Unum and clutching olive branch and arrows in talons with surrounding inscription "Peace, Commerce and Honest Friendship with all Nations.
