Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), "Asian Girl Holding Tea Bowl, 1935", oil on canvas, signed LL, depicts seated girl wearing white kimono style dress decorated with blue and red flowers, figure holds small yellow tea bowl, background shows blank wall with a blue Chinese sign off to the right of the figure, unframed, canvas loose on UL corner (appear to be missing one nail), missing nail along right side, scrapes/abrasions to the Chinese sign in the background and on white dress, scratches along top of painting and to the left of the figure, wear/loss to edges, 34" h. x 26 1/4" w.[Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT]
