Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), eight unframed works on board and paper: "House by the Railroad Track", oil on board, unsigned, rural landscape with a tilled garden in the foreground, board warped, 12" h. x 16" w. (369); "France, 1929" oil on board, unsigned, close view of sailboats with large red/brown sails, men work on the boats, scrape to sail in center, white staining to right side, 13" h. x 16" w. (296); "Abstract Street Corner", oil on Masonite, unsigned, depiction of a street corner with abstract geometric shaped buildings in browns and pinks, pedestrians walk along the narrow streets, loss to UL and LL corners, 13" h. x 16" w. (381); "Bridge to Town, 1935", unsigned, oil on cardboard, rural landscape with bridge crossing over river in foreground, 12" h. x 16" w. (113); along with four smaller studies of women, all pieces unframed and with wear to edges. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT]
