Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), five small unframed oils on board, canvasboard or Masonite: "Stylized Female Head", unsigned, depiction of a female figure's head and neck, figure has long brown hair pulled to the left side, wear/chips to edges of wood, wood cracked along figure's left eye, small scrapes, areas of white discoloration on figure's face, 17 3/4" h. x 7 3/4" w.; "Abstract River Scene", unsigned, abstract scene with river on left and cliffs on right, cracquelure, toning, 12" h. x 16" w.; "N. E. Coastal Scene", unsigned, coastal scene with rocks emerging from water in the foreground, small hole in LR and UL corner, some minor abrasions, 13" h. x 16" w.; "Floral Still Life in Black Vase", unsigned, still life with semi-abstract flowers in white, blue, orange and yellow, vertical crack in bottom center of wood, scrapes with small paint loss primarily along bottom, 20" h. x 7" w.; and "Inner Harbor, Low Tide", unsigned, cubist style harbor scene with figures, dark sky, minor abrasions, 13" h. x 16" w., all pieces with wear to edges. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT] NB (447) M
