Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), four unframed oils, including: "Autumn Hills", oil on plywood, signed lower right and lower left, landscape with a road winding between hills and orange/red trees in the distance, small brown buildings and grazing animals to the left, mountains in the background against blue sky, wear/loss to edges, some cracks in wood along edges, abrasions with some paint loss most obvious to right of large orange/red tree, some discoloration/staining in skyline, 19" h. x 23 1/2" w.; "Reclining Woman with Mandolin", oil on cardboard, unsigned, depiction of a reclining woman with brown hair wearing a red jacket that is open to reveal a white garment underneath, figure has one hand behind her head while the other crosses over her torso to grasp a mandolin, figure's knees are bent showing her black shoes, background is white cloth underneath figure and dark undefined above figure, unframed, wear/loss to edges, cracquelure throughout, areas of discoloration, 11 3/4" h. x 16" w.; "Late Spring, 1961", oil on board, signed lower right, abstract depiction with green, purple and white, colors swirled together in places with white paint splattered on top, unframed, wear to edges of board, some scratches, 12 1/2" h. x 15 1/2" w.; along with another portrait of woman reclining, all pieces with wear consistent with age and use, sold as-is. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT] NB (197) T
