Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), "Lena, 1936", oil on canvas, signed LR, woman seated to the left of window wearing a green jacket with a purple hat, she gazes off to the left, from the window figures can be seen walking in a snowy landscape, framed, frame has small chips primarily on the corners, the screw holding the painting's wire has been twisted too far and has come thru the frame on the left and has created a minor hole on right, approximately a 1/4 in. hole to the right side of figure's head (possibly has been repaired in past?), 37 1/2" h. x 43 1/2" w. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT] NB(599)T
