Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), seven unframed works, oil on wood, board or Masonite: "Abstract Suggesting Line of Figures", unsigned, abstract depiction with wavy lines in various colors, old description reads: Indian Dancers in Taos, NM, some abrasions, 7 1/4" h. x 16" w.; "Reclining Nude", signed LL, depiction of reclining nude female with one hand supporting head, large scratch along bottom center, areas of abrasion with paint loss primarily near figure's foot, 7 1/2" h. x 9 1/2" w.; "Stairs to Hilltop", unsigned, green space in foreground with staircase rising at center leading to a park, 9 1/2 h. x 11 1/2" w.; "Nude", signed LL, predominately brown and red sketch of a centered nude figure, scrapes above figure's head, 10" h. x 11 3/4" w.; "Stylized Nude with White Drape", unsigned, 3/4 length view of a stylized female figure, checking, most notable on figure's left shoulder and figure's head, some minor scratches along figure's right shoulder, 17 3/4" h. x 7 3/4" w.; "Abstractions Against Blue and White", unsigned, abstract depiction with black and brown squiggled lines against a painterly background of white, blue and red, wear/loss to edges of wood, cracquelure, 18" h. x 7 3/4" w.; and "Abstract View, White House", unsigned, abstract landscape with a white house centered, areas of thick impasto, small pin size holes in each corner, cracquelure primarily in mid ground with some paint loss, 12" h. x 16" w., all pieces with varied wear and loss to edges. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT] NB (43) M
