Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), two framed oils on canvas: "French Village", signed LL, depicting a winding street with trees on the left and rows of houses on the right with a large cathedral rising up into the blue background, wear to edges, paint loss in the UL corner, scratches to UR corner, 24" h. x 20" w.; and "Boats Docked in River", unsigned, depicting a waterway with two poles in the foreground, numerous boats docked with a row of houses and bridge in the background, some scrapes to the paint, two small holes in each corner possibly from former frame/staple?, 19 3/4" h. x 23 1/2" w. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT]
