Description:

Maroon plaid silk dress, American, c. 1850, museum provenance, trimmed with black on shoulders and sleeves, high neckline, long sleeves, black button closure, lace on cuffs and collar, black jet pendants on cuffs, one detached/ missing, skirt pleated to waist, with small train, label to sleeve reads "Bonded #54", 16" from armpit to armpit, 26" waist, wear consistent with age and use, sold as found. [PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned to benefit the Slater Memorial Museum's acquisition fund.]
