Nicholson 1900", depicts the young brunette beauty with delicate features in three quarter profile, fashionable upswept hair and white ruffled dress, pale complexion, double strand pearl necklace with cushion set sapphire pendant draped around base of neck, naturalized background typical of artist, tested silver frame with gilt wash, framed under glass, not examined out of frame, wear consistent with age and use, ss: 3" h. x 2" w. [NOTE: Nicholson, in 1896, was one of the founding members of the organization that became the Royal Society of Miniature Painters whose patron was the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. Later that year he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, residing at 415 West Fayette Street, until he moved back to England in 1911].
